Before we build

A proper site survey — for any service we run.

Whatever you're planning — internet, failover, Starlink, 4G/5G, CCTV, networking, wireless or power — we come to site and measure it first. Every recommendation is grounded in what your site actually is, not what a map says it should be.

A survey for any service

If we can build it, we can survey for it.

Pick one, or have us assess several in a single visit — most sites need a few of these working together.

Internet & connectivity

Which bearers are actually viable at your location — fibre, fixed wireless, satellite, 4G/5G — and the realistic throughput and contention of each.

Failover & resilience

A viable second and third bearer, how quickly failover kicks in, and where the single points of failure are before they bite.

Starlink & satellite

Clear sky-view and obstruction check, best dish placement, cabling route, and whether a static public IP is the right fit.

4G/5G LTE

Measured signal (RSRP/SINR) by carrier, the best antenna position and height, and expected real-world speeds — not marketing coverage maps.

CCTV & security

Camera positions and coverage, lighting, cable and power routes, and how footage will get off site reliably for remote viewing.

Networking

Cabling routes and distances, switch and rack locations, IP and VLAN planning, and the condition of any existing network.

Wireless / point-to-point

Line-of-sight between locations, distance, interference and clear spectrum, so a link performs once the mast goes up.

Power & UPS

Available power, mounting and grounding, and the runtime you need — so comms and cameras ride through dips and outages.

Cyber & firewall

Network exposure, segmentation of OT from IT, remote-access risks and where a managed firewall belongs in the design.

How it works

From site visit to a design you can build.

01

Scope

A quick call to agree what to assess, site access and any constraints — so the visit is focused and efficient.

02

On-site survey

An engineer measures signal, line-of-sight, power, cabling and existing kit, capturing photos and readings.

03

Report

A clear written report with findings, risks, photos and options — plain English, no jargon dump.

04

Costed design

A recommended, costed design ready to build — then we can install it right first time.

What each survey confirms

The facts we bring back — service by service.

For the technical detail behind these — RF, line-of-sight and full network audits — see Audits & Surveys.

ServiceWhat the survey confirmsWhat it prevents
Internet & connectivityViable bearers and realistic throughput at the site✕ Buying a link that underperforms
FailoverA genuine second/third bearer and failover behaviour✕ Discovering both links share one fault
StarlinkObstruction-free placement and static-IP fit✕ Dropouts from trees, masts or roofs
4G/5G LTEMeasured signal per carrier and best antenna spot✕ Trusting a coverage map that's wrong
CCTVCamera coverage, lighting, cabling and power✕ Blind spots and cameras with no feed
NetworkingCable routes, rack/switch siting, IP & VLAN plan✕ Rework and downtime after go-live
Wireless / PtPClear line-of-sight, distance and clean spectrum✕ A link that fails once the mast is up
Power & UPSAvailable power, mounting and runtime needed✕ Kit that dies at the first power dip
Questions

Site surveys — your questions answered.

Can you survey my site for any service?
Yes. If it's something we deliver — internet, failover, Starlink, 4G/5G LTE, CCTV, networking, wireless links, power and UPS, or cyber and firewall — we can survey the site for it. Most visits assess several of these together so the whole solution is designed as one.
What happens during a site survey?
An engineer attends site and captures the facts: which connectivity bearers are viable and their real-world performance, mobile and satellite signal, line-of-sight for wireless links, camera positions and coverage, cabling routes, available power and mounting, and the condition of any existing network. You then receive a written report with findings, photos and a recommended, costed design.
Do I need a survey before you install?
For anything non-trivial, yes — a survey costs a fraction of a failed install. Measuring signal, line-of-sight, power and the existing network up front means the design is right first time, with no surprise change orders on install day.
How long does a site survey take?
A typical single-site survey takes about a day on site, sometimes less. Larger or multi-service sites can take longer. We agree the scope with you beforehand so you know what's included.
Do you survey remote sites anywhere in the UK?
Yes. We survey remote and renewable-energy sites across the UK, including hard-to-reach locations off the fibre network. Tell us where the site is and we'll arrange access and attend.
