Connectivity · Critical grid assets

Fast, secure comms for battery & grid sites.

BESS, grid and substation sites are high-value, business-critical and increasingly a cyber target. We deliver low-latency control links, hardened OT security and resilient multi-bearer failover — engineered and fully managed.

What's included

Connectivity that respects how a battery site actually earns.

A BESS is only as good as the link that dispatches it. We engineer fast, hardened, resilient comms around your control systems, your markets and your grid obligations.

Low-latency resilient link

Deterministic, low-jitter paths with headroom, held live across multiple bearers so dispatch never waits on a single circuit.

EMS / SCADA & trading comms

Reliable backhaul for your energy management system, SCADA and trading platform so set-points and frequency response land on time.

DNO / ESO grid signalling

Carriage for active network management, dispatch and telemetry, aligned to the latency and resilience your connection agreement demands.

OT security & segmentation

Control networks isolated from corporate and guest traffic, managed firewalls, deny-by-default policy and full logging for a critical-infrastructure-grade posture.

Secure vendor remote access

Brokered, time-bound, least-privilege access for battery, inverter and EMS vendors — logged and scoped, never a flat route into the OT.

Fire, safety & CCTV connectivity

Dedicated, resilient connectivity for fire and gas detection, safety systems and site CCTV, kept separate from the control network.

How we deliver

From survey to a control link you can trade on.

01

Survey

We assess the site, coverage, power and your EMS, SCADA and grid signalling requirements to set latency and resilience targets.

02

Engineer

We design the bearer mix, segmentation and firewall policy, and specify secure vendor access — documented before anyone lifts a tool.

03

Install

Our engineers deploy and pre-stage on site, prove every path and failover, and hand over a tested, documented network.

04

Manage

24/7 monitoring, failover and OT-aware support keep the link fast, secure and available for the life of the asset.

Built for critical grid assets

Engineered for the sites the grid depends on.

Battery and grid sites sit at the sharp end of the energy system — high capital value, business-critical revenue and a live target for attackers probing operational technology. We design connectivity that treats them accordingly, whatever the configuration.

Whether you run a standalone grid-scale battery, a co-located solar-plus-storage hybrid, a substation with active network management, or an aggregated demand-side portfolio, we tailor the bearers, security and resilience to how the asset earns and what the grid asks of it.

Questions

Battery & grid connectivity — your questions answered.

Why does a battery storage site need low-latency connectivity?
BESS assets earn from fast markets — frequency response, balancing and trading — where dispatch signals must be acted on in seconds or sub-seconds. A slow or jittery link means missed set-points, degraded service performance and lost revenue. We engineer low-latency, deterministic control paths with headroom to spare, and pair them with SD-WAN so traffic always takes the best path.
How do you secure the OT and meet cyber-security expectations?
Battery and grid sites are critical-infrastructure-adjacent and increasingly targeted, so we treat OT security as a first-class requirement. We segment control networks from corporate and guest traffic, apply a managed firewall with tight zone-and-conduit policy, deny by default, and log and monitor the link. We can pair this with a formal cyber-security assessment.
Can vendors get remote access without exposing the OT network?
Yes. We provide brokered, time-bound, least-privilege remote access for battery, inverter and EMS vendors — authenticated, logged and scoped to the specific asset. Vendors never touch the flat OT network or the public internet directly, which removes the most common route in for attackers. See our guide to secure BESS vendor remote access.
Can you carry DNO and ESO grid signalling?
We deliver and manage the communications that grid signalling and metering depend on, including DNO active network management and ESO dispatch and telemetry. We align bearer choice, latency and resilience to the signalling and service obligations your connection agreement sets out.
Is the link resilient enough for trading uptime?
We build multi-bearer connectivity — fibre, 4G/5G and satellite as appropriate — held live with automatic failover so a single circuit or carrier outage does not take the site off market. Everything is monitored 24/7, so we act on degradation before it costs you availability.
